Dental Prostheses
What is a dental prosthetist?
A dental prosthesis is a specially manufactured dental appliance intended to improve oral function and appearance, replace or restore lost teeth, or treat dental abnormalities. These tools cover a variety of dental procedures, such as veneers, crowns, bridges, implants, and dentures. Depending on the patient’s needs and choices, dental prosthesis can be set permanently or removed from the mouth.
When using dental prostheses is necessary?
Your limbs may occasionally feel stiff as you become older. As we age, we tend to lose our strength and get wrinkles and age spots. Your teeth can also deteriorate and become weaker with time, much like your body. Your teeth become less well-protected when their enamel thins.
They may get cracks, chips, and other imperfections; you can even end up losing one, two, or more teeth. Your dental health is at risk since these flaws are unable to cure themselves. Therefore, to repair broken, unsightly, or malfunctioning teeth, we employ man-made devices called dental prosthesis. They can also be utilized to restore one or more natural teeth that are missing.
Several kinds of dental prosthetic devices available at our clinic in Albania:
Dental Crowns
A crown, which can be constructed of porcelain or metal, is a cap for a tooth that has been injured. It is a new covering for a tooth that has been damaged. You may have crowns over your front teeth that we particularly design to match the rest of your teeth, or you may have one over a molar that is rarely visible. Teeth that are worn down, damaged, or broken can usually be restored permanently with crowns.
Dental Implant
Dental implants are prosthesis that can be inserted into the jawbone and kept there as surrounding bone grows. Are you curious about the standard process for getting a dental implant? This is it: The implant, which resembles a screw, is first placed within the mandible. After that, we install an abutment to support the crown. Finally, in order to match the neighboring teeth, a crown is glued to the abutment.
Dental Bridge
Dental bridges, as the name suggests, are another tool that our dentist can use to cover or bridge the gaps in your smile. Therefore, the abutment teeth on either side of the gap hold a pontic, or fake tooth, in place while a dental bridge is in place.
It is an attempt to balance implants and dentures. Although pontics can be made of several materials, including gold, porcelain is typically used in their construction so as to visually match your actual teeth. In some circumstances, the bridge may be fastened to an implant for increased stability and security.
Dentures
Dentures are removable prosthetic devices that replace lost teeth and surrounding tissue. Dentures come in two varieties: partial dentures, which are used while some natural teeth are still present, and complete dentures, which are used when all of the teeth are lost. They resemble real teeth in appearance and functionality and fit tightly against the gums. Which type of dentures are best for you depends on how much of your teeth you’ve lost and your personal preferences.
